The NexusBlock Shrine is a stunning piece of grimdark sci-fi terrain that brings an atmosphere of ancient devotion and battlefield ruin to any tabletop wargaming setup. Standing approximately 67mm tall with a footprint of 37x38mm, this physical resin miniature arrives fully cast, supports already removed, and ready to assemble and paint. The kit comes in 3 separate parts, allowing for straightforward assembly before you apply your chosen colour scheme.

Inspired by weathered roadside shrines and gothic ecclesiastical architecture, the NexusBlock Shrine features deeply carved wood-grain textures across its panelled walls, a pointed roof with layered slate tiles, ornate gothic finials flanking the entrance, and a beautifully detailed altar panel depicting a robed figure holding a child. A bold cross motif adorns the front of the altar plinth, surrounded by quatrefoil decorative panels. Additional scatter elements include a separate collapsed timber frame and a small pile of tied sacks, giving your battlefield scene extra narrative depth and visual interest.

This piece works equally well as a centrepiece objective marker, a line-of-sight blocker, or a piece of atmospheric scatter terrain. The level of sculpted detail makes it a rewarding project for hobbyists who enjoy expressive, character-filled terrain. The NexusBlock Shrine pairs beautifully with ruined village scenery, graveyard sets, and gothic settlement boards.

Each piece is cast in high-quality grey resin, delivering crisp surface detail throughout. No additional preparation beyond light sanding of assembly points is required before you prime and paint.

Painting Guide: NexusBlock Shrine - Grimdark SciFi Terrain

The following guide is designed to help you achieve a grimdark, neglected stone-and-timber look that suits the brooding atmosphere of the NexusBlock Shrine on the tabletop.

1. Prime

  • Apply a zenithal prime using black at the base and light grey from above to pre-shade the recesses and establish natural shadow depth across the surface.

2. Armour Base

  • Basecoat the wooden panels with a mid-brown such as Rhinox Hide or Flat Brown, then drybrush lightly with a warm beige to pick out the wood grain texture.
  • Paint the stone and slate surfaces with a cold grey such as Mechanicus Standard Grey or Medium Grey.

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out the decorative carved cross motifs and gothic tracery in a pale off-white or aged bone tone to make them read clearly against the darker body.
  • Apply a diluted brown wash into all recessed areas to deepen shadow and unify the tones across the piece.

4. Weapons

  • The altar relief panel depicting the robed figure can be painted in muted, desaturated tones such as aged ivory and shadow grey to suggest carved stone rather than painted imagery.
  • The sack scatter pieces suit a rough undyed linen look, achieved with a buff base and a sepia wash.

5. Weathering

  • Stipple patches of orange-brown rust or verdigris around the carved details and roof edges to suggest long years of neglect.
  • Drybrush the entire piece with a very pale grey or off-white to simulate dust, debris, and faded surfaces worn by time and conflict.

6. Bases

  • The integrated base features rubble and scattered debris. Paint these in cold grey tones, wash with a dark shade, and drybrush with light stone to blend the model into a ruined battlefield or graveyard board.

This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
