Forgotten Champions brings you Lady Ashveil, a masterfully sculpted samurai mercenary designed by acclaimed sculptor Haito. She stands poised and dangerous, a drawn katana in hand and an oni war mask slung at her shoulder, her robes etched with flowing tattoo-like engravings that tell the story of a warrior who has walked through fire and shadow alike.
Lady Ashveil is a lone blade for hire, bound to no banner and loyal only to coin and purpose. Her attire blends traditional eastern warrior culture with a dark, arcane aesthetic. Rope bindings, thigh-high stockings carved with intricate line work, and geta sandals ground her in a world where honour is currency and mercy is a luxury few can afford. A small skull rests at her feet on the rocky base, a quiet warning to those who underestimate her.
This single miniature is presented in two views, front and rear, to showcase every sculpted detail. Standing at approximately 32mm scale, she is an ideal character model for skirmish wargames, display collections or as a mercenary hero in your chosen warband. The Forgotten Champions range is known for pushing the boundary between wargame piece and collector art.
Sculpted by Haito, Lady Ashveil is cast in high quality resin and supplied unpainted. She arrives on a detailed rubble and stone scenic base ready for painting. Whether leading a mercenary warband or standing alone as a showcase piece, she commands the table.
Painting Guide: Lady Ashveil - SamuraiLady Ashveil rewards a painter who enjoys layering subtle tones and fine line work. This guide will help you bring this Forgotten Champions mercenary to life with a grimdark edge and striking focal points.
1. Prime
- Apply a light grey or bone spray primer to preserve the fine engraved tattoo detail across the robes and stockings
- A zenithal highlight with white from above will define the light source early and speed up shading
2. Armour Base
- Base the robes with a warm ivory or aged linen tone such as Ushabti Bone
- Pick out the rope belt and bindings in a darker natural fibre tone like Mournfang Brown to separate them from the robes
3. Trim and Details
- Wash the tattoo engravings with a thinned dark sepia or Agrax Earthshade to make the line work pop without losing detail
- Highlight raised cloth edges back up with a mix of the base colour and white for a worn, sun-bleached look
4. Weapons
- Base the katana blade with Leadbelcher then layer with Stormhost Silver for a polished steel finish
- Add a fine edge of pure white or Vallejo Chrome along the sharpened edge to suggest a deadly keen blade
5. Weathering
- Apply light chipping to the oni mask using a sponge and dark brown, then edge with silver to suggest battle wear
- Streak thinned brown washes downward across the stockings and lower robes to suggest road dust and long travel
6. Bases
- Drybrush the rocky base with Administratum Grey over a Mechanicus Standard Grey basecoat, then finish the small skull in off-white with a sepia wash for a suitably grim finishing touch worthy of the Forgotten Champions collection
