Kommandant C. Kroenenger is a single resin miniature depicting a battle-hardened imperial officer standing 29mm from feet to eyes, arriving physically printed, supports already removed, and cleaned ready to assemble and paint. He cuts an imposing silhouette in a long greatcoat with epaulette trim, boots planted wide on a rubble base scattered with a fallen helmet and skull. One arm extends forward in a commanding gesture while the other bears a heavy mechanical power fist, its knuckle plates worn and angular. Medals and a cross-body leather strap decorate his chest, and a holstered sidearm sits at his hip alongside bundled rope or cord detail at the waist. The face is the centrepiece of the sculpt, dominated by a thick moustache and a bionic eye implant that marks him as a veteran of long and brutal campaigns.

Supplied unpainted.

Sculpted by DakkaDakka, the piece comes in six parts including the main body, the mechanical fist arm, a backpack power unit with exhaust tube, an alternative weapon option, and a detailed scenic base insert. Assembly is straightforward and the parts align cleanly. The base insert features the downed helmet, skull, and rocky debris that position Kroenenger as a figure literally standing over the enemy.

At 29mm to the eyes he scales correctly alongside standard 28 to 32mm grimdark infantry and command figures. He works as a centrepiece commander for a regiment, a warlord proxy for skirmish play, or a display piece in his own right. The sculpt rewards careful painting with its clearly separated layers of coat, armour, leather, and mechanical detail.

Painting Guide: Kommandant C. Kroenenger

The following guide is written for hobbyists working in layers with standard acrylic miniature paints.

1. Prime

  • Apply a black spray primer across the whole model. This deepens the coat and mechanical arm naturally and reduces the number of shadow layers needed on dark surfaces.

2. Armour Base

  • Base the greatcoat in a dark grey such as Mechanicus Standard Grey, then shade with a black wash to define the folds.
  • Highlight raised edges with a lighter grey mixed with a small amount of blue to keep the coat cold in tone.

3. Trim and Details

  • Paint epaulette trim and medal fittings in a steel metallic, then wash with a dark brown ink to age them.
  • Pick out the bionic eye with a deep red or amber gem effect to draw attention to the face.

4. Weapons

  • Base the mechanical power fist in Leadbelcher, wash heavily with Nuln Oil, and edge highlight with Ironbreaker on the knuckle ridges.
  • Paint the holstered pistol and sidearm grip in a dark brown leather tone, highlighted with a tan mix on raised areas.

5. Weathering

  • Stipple chipped paint effects onto the greatcoat edges using a sponge and a dark green or brown grey mix to suggest field wear.
  • Apply a light drybrushing of bone or cream over the skull and rocky base insert to lift the debris details.

6. Bases

  • Paint the rubble in grey stone tones, wash with a brown shade, and drybrush with a pale grey. Paint the fallen helmet in the same scheme as the officer's coat to tie the base to the figure.

This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
