This Inquisitor miniature is a single resin figure from the Grimdark Crusade Miniatures range, standing approximately 33mm from feet to eyes and arriving as a physical, pre-printed resin model with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint.
The sculpt depicts a skeletal, armoured warrior clad in battered plate, a wide-brimmed hat, and a flowing tattered cape. The figure carries a runic staff topped with an ornate cross in one hand and an unfurled scroll in the other. A heraldic shield bearing a cross motif is visible on the chest, reinforcing the crusading, faith-driven character of this grimdark champion. Small holes and tears in the cape and tabard add an aged, battle-worn quality throughout the sculpt, giving the piece a strong narrative presence on any display shelf or gaming table.
Sculpted by DakkaDakka, this Inquisitor is a single-character release and is sold as one model per order. The level of surface detail is well suited to intermediate and advanced painters. Fine textures on the armour plates, cloth folds, and decorative ironwork reward careful brush work and shading techniques.
The model arrives unpainted and may require minor assembly. Superglue is recommended for any joins. Primer is required before painting.
Painting Guide: Inquisitor - Grimdark Crusade MiniaturesThe following guide is aimed at hobbyists who want to bring out the grimdark character of this Inquisitor figure using mid-range paints and basic techniques.
1. Prime
- Apply a light grey or black spray primer in thin, even coats across the whole model, covering recesses and undercuts carefully.
- Allow to cure fully before painting, ideally leaving the model for at least one hour in a dry environment.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat armour plates with a dark iron or gunmetal grey, working from the largest panels outward to smaller detail areas.
- Apply a second thin coat if coverage is uneven, keeping brush strokes consistent with the panel direction.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out the cross motif, shield edging, and staff decorations with a pale gold or aged brass to contrast against the dark armour.
- Paint the scroll with an off-white or parchment tone, leaving recessed fold lines slightly darker for natural shading.
4. Weapons
- Paint the runic staff shaft with a dark wood brown, then drybrush lightly with a lighter tan to raise the grain texture.
- Finish the cross-topped staff head in the same aged gold used for the trim, adding a thin dark wash to settle into the detail.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown or black wash across all armour panels to deepen recesses and create shadow contrast.
- Drybrush raised armour edges lightly with a bright silver to simulate worn metal and chipped paint effects.
6. Bases
- Texture the base with fine sand or grit sealed with diluted PVA, then paint in dark earth tones and drybrush with pale stone for a ruined battlefield look.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
