The Grokk Warborn Bonebreakers are a squad of three hulking, battle-scarred heavy warriors clad in thick industrial power armour bristling with bone spikes, chains, skull trophies, and brutal close-combat hardware that marks every inch of their brutal nature. Each figure carries the unmistakable silhouette of a seasoned warband veteran, wide-shouldered, heavily plated, and dripping with crude battlefield trophies torn from fallen enemies. The squad draws its character from savage ork warband aesthetics filtered through grimdark industrial design, producing three sculpts that feel genuinely menacing on the tabletop.
Each warrior features a distinct weapon configuration. One carries a rotary multi-barrel cannon, one is armed with a heavy bolter-style weapon, and the third stands ready with clenched power fists for close-quarters brutality. A separate commander variant features an imposing backpack-mounted energy array with glowing blue sensor orbs, making him immediately readable as a squad leader or warlord centrepiece. Bone-white spikes erupt from pauldrons, chains hang heavy at the belt, and skull iconography adorns the torso plates and greaves throughout the unit.
Designed by Atlan Forge, the Grokk Warborn Bonebreakers are engineered for modular assembly, with arms and torsos built around integrated 3x1mm magnet sockets so weapons can be swapped freely between games to suit any loadout. The kit includes multiple head variants, shoulder plate options, and weapon arms, giving you a wide range of possible combinations across your squad. All three figures arrive as physical resin miniatures with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint straight from the box.
Each miniature sits on a 40mm round base and stands at approximately 32mm scale, though the Bonebreakers read larger on the table owing to their exaggerated bulk and height, fitting for elite heavy infantry. The level of surface detail is exceptional, with rivets, armour panels, mechanical joints, and textured cloth all retaining crisp definition that responds beautifully to washes and drybrushing.
Painting Guide: Grokk Warborn BonebreakersThese heavily textured models reward a methodical approach. The recessed armour panels and layered detailing make them ideal candidates for contrast-style paints and pin washes, with strong results achievable even at intermediate skill levels.
1. Prime
- Apply a light grey or black primer spray evenly across all surfaces, holding the can at least 25cm from the model to avoid filling recesses.
- A black zenithal undercoat followed by a quick light grey pass from above will pre-shade the armour panels and save time in later stages.
2. Armour Base
- Block in the main armour plates with a dark metallic grey such as Leadbelcher, Vallejo Gunmetal, or Scale75 Blacksmith Steel.
- Apply a deep red to the secondary armour sections, trim areas, and cloth elements using Mephiston Red or Vallejo Bloody Red as your base coat.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint all bone spikes and skull trophies with Zandri Dust, then layer up with Ushabti Bone and a final edge highlight of Screaming Skull.
- Pick out mechanical joints, bolts, and chain links in a darker metal such as Warplock Bronze or black-brown to break up the large grey areas.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat weapon barrels and frames in a darker gunmetal, then drybrush lightly with Runefang Steel to bring out barrel edges and muzzle details.
- For the energy array on the commander, basecoat the sensor orbs in Macragge Blue, layer with Caledor Sky, and finish with a spot of White Scar at the centre for a glowing effect.
5. Weathering
- Apply a generous pin wash of Nuln Oil across all armour plates and mechanical areas, drawing the wash into recesses and panel lines.
- Once dry, drybrush the raised edges of all armour plates with Runefang Steel or Necron Compound to simulate heavy battlefield wear and chipped paint.
- Add optional rust streaks using a stippled application of Ryza Rust or a thinned orange-brown, concentrated around bolts and lower leg armour.
6. Bases
- Texture the base with a coarse industrial basing paste or dark grey sand, then drybrush with medium grey and light stone tones to suggest rubble or broken ferrocrete terrain.
- Rim the bases with Abaddon Black for a clean, display-quality finish that frames the miniature without distracting from the model itself.
