The following guide is aimed at intermediate painters and covers a grimdark alien aesthetic with organic bone tones, dark chitin armour, and battle-worn weathering to suit a hive-swarm force.

1. Prime

• Apply a thin, even coat of grey or black spray primer across the whole model, ensuring full coverage of the recessed joint areas and between the claw fingers.

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat all chitin plating and bone armour sections with a deep off-white or pale bone colour such as Ushabti Bone or Rakarth Flesh.
• For a darker, more corrupted look, substitute the base coat with a muted grey-green such as Death World Forest before layering bone tones on top.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out the fang teeth and spine tips in a brighter white or cream to create contrast against the main armour body.
• Apply a thin wash of Agrax Earthshade or Reikland Fleshshade into all recesses to define panel lines and add depth to the organic surfaces.

4. Weapons
