Diseased flesh has long since replaced anything that could be called human within the Diseased Walking Mass. These horrors represent the final stage of biological corruption, where infection has consumed body, mind, and identity. What remains are slow, relentless figures of rotting muscle and fungal growth, advancing across the battlefield as a spreading tide of decay.
The Diseased Walking Mass squad of 10 depicts plague-ridden bodies warped by aggressive parasitic organisms. Their forms are skeletal yet powerful, stripped of clothing and armour as if the infection has devoured everything artificial. Bulging pustules, ruptured skin, and spreading fungal blooms dominate their anatomy. Bone protrusions, split flesh, and creeping organic growth give the models a disturbing, almost botanical quality as if the infection itself is cultivating new life through their bodies.
Unlike bloated plague monstrosities, the Diseased Walking Mass are lean and corpse-like, moving with the stiff, unnatural gait of animated dead. Their bodies appear partially mummified by infection while strange fungal colonies erupt across limbs, shoulders, and backs. Some reach forward with clawed hands, while others stagger forward as if driven by an unseen will. The absence of clothing reinforces their transformation into pure vessels of corruption, stripped down to raw flesh and infestation.
On the tabletop, the Diseased Walking Mass works perfectly as an advancing wall of infected bodies, a relentless, slow-moving horde that spreads contamination wherever it marches. Their poses evoke a creeping apocalypse, where each fallen victim may soon rise again as another member of the Diseased ranks. Whether used as plague thralls, fungal revenants, or corrupted civilians, they bring an unsettling biological horror to any grimdark sci-fi force.
The sculpted detail across the Diseased Walking Mass models provides hobbyists with rich textures for painting: ruptured skin, layered fungal plates, exposed muscle, and parasitic growths. When deployed together as a squad of ten, they create a disturbing visual of infection spreading across the battlefield like a living disease.
Painting Guide: Diseased Walking Mass
This squad rewards painters who enjoy experimenting with organic textures, rot, and fungal growth.
1. Prime
- Prime black or dark brown to create deep shadows in the organic recesses.
2. Armour Base
- Use pale flesh tones, sickly greens, or greyed skin colours for the infected bodies.
- Highlight with bone, pale yellow, or light green to emphasize stretched skin and raised detail.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint fungal growths in off-white, ochre, muted orange, or moldy green tones.
- Apply dark brown or green washes to deepen pustules and organic recesses.
4. Weapons
- These models rely on claws and mutated limbs rather than manufactured weapons.
- Add glossy varnish to pustules or fungal sacs to create a wet infected effect.
5. Weathering
- Use stippling to add bruising, rot patches, and mottled skin textures.
- Apply dark grime around joints, wounds, and fungal clusters.
6. Bases
- Swamp mud, fungal forests, or toxic wasteland bases complement the spreading infection theme.
