Diseased and grotesque beyond reason, The Sporefused Ursus lumbers across the battlefield as a living engine of decay. This abomination, once perhaps a beast of loyalty, has been fused into a Cerberus-like horror, its warped anatomy spreading contagion with every staggered step. Towering at 62mm, it dominates the field not just through size, but through the sheer revulsion it inspires in those who face it.
Its twin heads snap and gnash independently, each lined with jagged, bony growths that resemble teeth but seem grown rather than formed. These Diseased maws drip with foul ichor, capable of tearing through armour and flesh alike. Five malformed limbs propel the creature forward in an unnatural gait, granting it surprising speed despite its bulk. It is a relentless predator shaped by corruption.
Across its bloated frame, swollen pustules throb and split, leaking noxious fluids that poison the ground beneath it. These Diseased growths act as both armour and weapon, bursting under pressure to spread filth and infection into nearby enemies. Its hide is a patchwork of torn flesh and hardened lesions, creating a nightmarish resilience that shrugs off conventional attacks.
The Ursus does not fight alone. Wherever it treads, rot follows. Its presence weakens resolve and erodes discipline, turning even hardened warriors into panicked prey. The ornate base tells its own grim story, a shattered tree stump and the half-buried remains of a fallen soldier, a reminder that nothing escapes its advance.
On the tabletop, this creature excels as a terror unit, drawing fire, breaking formations, and soaking punishment while spreading chaos. The Diseased nature of its design makes it a centrepiece model, perfect for hobbyists who enjoy pushing into darker, more grotesque themes with their collection.
Bring this revolting monstrosity to life with a palette of decay and corruption.
1. Prime
- Use a black or dark brown primer to establish a grim, shadowy base.
2. Armour Base
- Base the flesh with sickly greens, browns, and pale fleshtones.
- Highlight with lighter, almost diseased yellows and off-whites.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out bony growths with ivory or bone colours; use dark metallics for any embedded debris.
- Apply heavy washes of green, sepia, and purple to deepen the Diseased look.
4. Weapons
- Teeth and claws should be layered from dark brown to bone.
- Add gloss varnish or subtle green glows to pustules for a wet, infected effect.
5. Weathering
- Use stippling to create rotting textures and flaking flesh.
- Add grime and ooze around joints, wounds, and the base of pustules.
6. Bases
- Enhance the sculpted base with muddy textures, dead grass, and dark washes.
