The Coven of the Black Woods Elite Witch Troopers arrive as a squad of 4 highly detailed physical resin miniatures, cast and cleaned ready for assembly and painting. These figures draw on a dark, folkloric aesthetic, blending archaic ritual armour with grim battlefield utility. Each trooper wears layered wrappings, ornate masks, and carries weapons ranging from long rifles to blades and spears, all sculpted with fine surface detail that rewards careful brushwork.
Standing at approximately 32mm scale, every figure in this release has been individually cleaned, with supports already removed and surfaces prepared. Parts fit together cleanly, and the level of sculpted detail across cloth, leather, bone, and metal surfaces gives painters a rich variety of textures to work with. The Coven of the Black Woods range is designed for adult hobbyists who want characterful, individual models that stand apart from standard trooper lines.
Each miniature ships as a physical resin kit. Assembly may be required for some components such as arms or weapons. Supplied unpainted and without a base unless otherwise stated. Paints, glue, and tools are not included.
Painting Guide: Coven of the Black Woods - Elite Witch Troopers
The following guide is tailored to bring out the grimdark character of the Coven of the Black Woods Elite Witch Troopers, using contrast paints and layering to achieve a worn, occult battlefield look efficiently.
1. Prime
- Apply a light grey or bone-coloured spray primer evenly across all surfaces to preserve fine sculptural detail.
2. Armour Base
- Base coat cloth and leather areas in a warm mid-brown such as Rhinox Hide or Mournfang Brown.
- Apply a pale bone tone such as Ushabti Bone to wrapped linen areas and exposed surfaces.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out ritual symbols, buckles, and ornate mask details with a tarnished brass or aged gold tone.
- Use a dark green or mossy tone on any organic or fungal growth details to add natural contrast.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat rifle barrels and blade edges with Leadbelcher or a cold steel tone, then wash with Nuln Oil.
- Add edge highlights on blade tips with a lighter silver to suggest sharpened metal.
5. Weathering
- Apply a brown wash across cloth and leather to deepen recesses and add a worn, field-worn appearance.
- Stipple chipping effects on armour panels using a torn foam sponge and a dark brown paint.
6. Bases
- Texture paste in a dark earth tone, dry-brushed with pale grey, with optional tufts or dead foliage for a bleak woodland setting suits the character of this warband.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
