The Assault Bastion emplacement is an automated fortress of unrelenting firepower, a drop-deployed defensive platform that transforms any contested position into an impenetrable killzone within seconds of touchdown. Measuring 130mm in diameter and standing approximately 90mm to the top of its weapon array, this single centrepiece terrain model commands immediate tabletop presence, its circular armoured hull bristling with weapon hardpoints, sensor arrays, conduit bundles and armoured access panels on every facing. No angle of approach offers safety from its overlapping fields of fire.

The core hull is a masterpiece of utilitarian military engineering, a squat reinforced cylinder clad in heavy riveted plating, external cable runs, equipment lockers and ventilation systems that speak to the complex automated systems within. Stabiliser struts and buttressed anchor feet lock the structure to any terrain, while the rotating upper ring provides the weapon turret with a full 360 degree arc of engagement. Side-mounted weapon hardpoints extend from the hull on both flanks, providing additional anti-infantry coverage to complement the primary turret overhead.

The Assault Bastion's primary weapon system is a twin-pod heavy missile launcher mounted on a raised rotating turret platform, each pod carrying multiple ready-to-fire munitions capable of engaging infantry, light vehicles and low-altitude targets with equal efficiency. The side hardpoints accommodate interchangeable secondary weapons including twin-barrelled autocannons and compact heavy bolter arrays, all fully magnet-ready using 5x1mm, 5x2mm and 8x2mm magnets for complete loadout flexibility between games.

The level of modular customisation in this kit is exceptional. The turret weapon assembly, side weapon mounts and secondary emplacements are all independently swappable, allowing players to tailor the Bastion's loadout to their specific tactical requirements without any permanent assembly decisions. Every weapon combination produces a visually distinct and purposeful defensive platform.

Supplied as a single unpainted, unassembled resin miniature at 130mm diameter and approximately 90mm total assembled height, the Assault Bastion is an outstanding addition to any grimdark sci-fi battlefield as both a functional gaming piece and a display-quality terrain centrepiece.

Painting Guide: Assault Bastion

The Assault Bastion rewards a disciplined military paint scheme with strong panel line definition, making it look like a functional piece of battlefield hardware rather than a decorative object.

1. Prime

  • Prime grey or white for a clean foundation suited to military colour schemes, or black if going for a darker industrial or night-operations aesthetic.

2. Armour Base

  • Basecoat the hull in your chosen chapter or faction colour, Macragge Blue, Castellan Green, Mechanicus Standard Grey or Zandri Dust all work beautifully on large flat armour panels like these.
  • Drybrush raised edges and panel details with a lighter tone of the base colour to define the structure's geometry before applying any washes.

3. Trim and Details

  • Paint all mechanical trim, conduit bundles, vents and equipment fixtures in Leadbelcher or Ironbreaker, keeping them visually distinct from the main hull colour.
  • Apply Nuln Oil across all metallic surfaces and Agrax Earthshade into panel line recesses across the hull to add depth and shadow throughout.

4. Weapons

  • Paint missile pods and autocannon barrels in dark iron using Leadbelcher washed with Nuln Oil, then edge highlight with Runefang Steel along barrel tips and launcher edges.
  • Add subtle heat staining on barrel muzzles using thinned Fuegan Orange fading toward Guilliman Flesh for a well-used operational finish.

5. Weathering

  • Sponge battle damage across all hull panels using torn blister foam loaded with Abaddon Black then Ironbreaker, concentrating chipping on upper surfaces, corners and weapon mounts.
  • Apply pale dust pigment to the base and lower hull struts, and add thin Nuln Oil streaks running downward from vents, rivets and panel joins to suggest years of operational service.

6. Bases

  • Base the structure on cracked rockcrete or rubble scatter using texture paste drybrushed in Administratum Grey and Ulthuan Grey, with optional tufts of dead grass and scattered debris to suggest a contested urban or wasteland deployment zone.
