Angelic Flying Artillerymen are a squad of three imposing, winged heavy infantry warriors rendered in high-detail resin, designed for grimdark sci-fi wargaming. Each figure stands approximately 35-40mm tall and arrives as a physical resin miniature with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint. The squad features mechanised feathered wings, ornate power armour adorned with laurels and aquiline iconography, spiked crests, and long-barrelled artillery rifles held at combat-ready angles. The sculpts carry a powerful celestial warrior aesthetic, blending baroque ornamentation with hard military sci-fi engineering.
The three miniatures each adopt a distinct pose, from a striding lead trooper elevating dramatically on a rocky flight base, to flanking soldiers advancing with weapons raised. Every surface is packed with fine detail, including panelled armour plating, scrollwork across the greaves and pauldrons, ribbed cabling, and segmented mechanical wing feathers with cut-out negative spaces that reward careful brush work. These Angelic Flying Artillerymen are sculpted by Atlan Forge and represent some of the most ambitious winged infantry sculpts available for independent wargaming.
The set is suitable for use in most 28-32mm scale tabletop wargames and pairs well with gothic sci-fi armies. Whether fielded as elite jump infantry, angelic shock troops, or named character bodyguards, the Angelic Flying Artillerymen bring dramatic visual presence to any force on the tabletop.
Painting Guide: Angelic Flying Artillerymen - Sci-Fi Wargaming MiniaturesThese sculpts reward a methodical approach. The layered armour, mechanical wings, and ornate trim each respond well to different techniques. Work through the stages below for a striking result on the tabletop or display shelf.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or white spray primer in thin, even coats to preserve fine surface detail on the wing feathers and armour scrollwork.
- Check recesses under the wings and between armour panels for missed coverage before proceeding.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat armour panels in Corax White or Wraithbone for a celestial finish, or Leadbelcher for a steel-clad variant.
- Apply a wash of Agrax Earthshade or Nuln Oil to all panel lines and recesses, then layer back up with the original basecoat leaving shadows in the deepest areas.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint scrollwork, laurels, and shoulder icons in Retributor Armour or Liberator Gold, highlighted with Stormhost Silver at raised edges.
- Use a fine detail brush for the wing feather edges to pick out the segmented mechanical structure cleanly.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat artillery rifle bodies in Abaddon Black, drybrushed with Ironbreaker for a worn metal finish.
- Pick out barrel vents and trigger housings with Leadbelcher and a targeted wash of Nuln Oil.
5. Weathering
- Apply light chipping with a sponge and Rhinox Hide on armour edges to suggest battle wear.
- Use a thin glaze of Seraphim Sepia across the lower legs and boots to add grime from combat environments.
6. Bases
- Texture paste in grey or bone tones suits a celestial or ruined city aesthetic and ties the flight bases to a coherent basing scheme across the squad.
