The Forgotten Champions roster grows deadlier with Akira Nightsteel, a blade-for-hire whose loyalty is measured in steel and silence. A wandering samurai of no fixed allegiance, she walks the blasted frontier worlds alone, selling her sword arm to whoever can meet her price and survive her scrutiny.
Akira cuts an imposing figure on the battlefield. Her oni-faced belt plate snarls at those who dare approach, while twin blades are drawn and ready in a fluid dual-wield stance that speaks of countless engagements survived. Sculpted by Haito, every detail rewards close attention: layered cloth panels, braided cord tassels, articulated greaves, and long flowing hair caught mid-motion. The rear view reveals a third sheathed blade across her back, hinting at reserves of lethal intent. Mounted on a detailed rubble scenic base, this resin miniature stands at approximately 32mm scale.
As part of the Forgotten Champions mercenary collection, Akira fits seamlessly into any warband or skirmish roster that values independent operators with fearsome close-combat capability. She operates outside faction politics, bound only by contract and personal code.
This model is supplied as a high-resolution resin miniature, unpainted and unassembled. Miniature clippers and fine-grade sandpaper are recommended for cleanup. Suitable for display or tabletop play.
Painting Guide: Akira Nightsteel - SamuraiThis guide helps you bring Akira to life as a battle-worn Forgotten Champions operative, weathered by hard campaigns across hostile terrain.
1. Prime
- Apply a zenithal prime: black from below, bone white from above, to establish natural shadow and highlight before painting begins.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat cloth panels in warm sand or aged linen tones to suggest worn field garments.
- Paint the oni belt plate in dark iron grey with a hint of verdigris in recesses for an ancient, cursed quality.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out cord braids and tassels in deep burgundy or faded crimson to add a mercenary colour motif.
- Highlight armour edges with a cold off-white drybrush to simulate hard-worn resin plates.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat blade steel in dark silver, then highlight the cutting edge with pure metallic silver for a razor finish.
- Wash the tsuba guards in sepia to bring out the cast detail and add age.
5. Weathering
- Apply thin streaks of rust wash along armour joints and blade roots to show campaign wear.
- Stipple chipped paint effects on the oni plate using a torn foam sponge and dark grey paint.
6. Bases
- Drybrush the rubble base in light grey then bone white, add a dark brown wash into cracks, and finish with tufts of dead grass to complete the Forgotten Champions battlefield aesthetic.
