Thunderin Krew ork miniatures bring brutal, stomping energy to your grimdark sci-fi wargaming table with this squad of five heavily armed jet-pack orks, each one bursting with characterful detail and raw mechanical menace. These physical resin miniatures arrive with supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint straight out of the box.
The squad includes five distinct poses across two unit types. Three of the models are stocky, armoured brutes carrying crude blasters, oversized axes, and brutal close-combat weapons, their armour plates bolted together with thick rivets and adorned with skull iconography. The remaining two are leaner jet-pack troopers, each mounted on dynamic swooping bases that capture the sensation of mid-flight aggression, armed with pistols, blades, and mechanical claw arms. Together the five models form a cohesive and visually striking unit for skirmish or mass-battle wargames in the grimdark sci-fi genre.
Each model stands approximately 32-35mm to eye level, scaled to integrate cleanly with most popular 28-32mm scale wargame systems. The sculpting quality is exceptional, with deep crisp panel lines, expressive faces full of teeth and fury, and layered mechanical detail across every surface from backpack jet engines to studded belts and crudely stitched armour plates. Thunderin Krew ork miniatures are designed for collectors and competitive players alike who want a unit that draws attention on the tabletop.
These models are supplied unpainted and may require minimal assembly. Plastic cement or superglue is recommended. Always prime before painting for best results.
Painting Guide: Thunderin Krew ork miniatures – Squad of 5 Jet-Pack OrksThis guide is aimed at intermediate painters looking to get a striking, battle-ready finish on their Thunderin Krew ork miniatures quickly and efficiently.
1. Prime
- Apply a thin, even coat of black or grey primer from a rattle can or airbrush, covering all surfaces including recesses.
- Allow to fully cure for at least two hours before proceeding.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat all armour plates with a dark, desaturated green such as Caliban Green or equivalent.
- Follow with a lighter highlight of Warpstone Glow or Moot Green on raised edges and panel corners for contrast.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint bolts, rivets, and buckles with a dark metallic such as Leadbelcher, then wash with Nuln Oil.
- Pick out skull iconography and belt buckles in off-white or bone tone for visual contrast against the green armour.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat axe blades and gun bodies in Boltgun Metal or Ironbreaker, then shade with Agrax Earthshade for a worn look.
- Add thin streaks of Runefang Steel along blade edges to simulate sharpened metal catching light.
5. Weathering
- Stipple Typhus Corrosion or a brown wash into recesses and along armour edges to simulate rust and grime accumulation.
- Use a fine sponge to dab Leadbelcher across armour plates for chipping effects, concentrating damage on corners and high-contact areas.
6. Bases
- Paint the organic blob bases in a neutral dark grey or brown, then drybrush with a pale stone tone to bring out texture.
- Finish with a gloss varnish on the jet-pack exhausts to suggest heat residue, and a matte varnish over the rest of the model to protect the paintwork.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
