This WarpLand miniature brings the dread authority of the Shaman-Priest to your tabletop. A figure of terrible power stalking the blighted wastes, the Shaman-Priest walks the razor edge between mortal cunning and Void-touched madness. Bound in tattered wrappings, adorned with skulls and knotted bone fetishes, he carries a hooked ritual staff in one hand and a long knife in the other. Beneath his horned war-mask lurks something that was once a man and is now something far more dangerous.
In the world of WarpLand, those who commune with the Warp seldom survive the encounter unchanged. The Shaman-Priest belongs to no temple, answers to no Autarch, and bows before no Iron Lord. He is a wandering instrument of ruin, trading curses and visions to desperate warbands in exchange for blood offerings. Cults in Obsidia whisper his titles. Skull Riders leave tribute at crossroads so that he passes without incident. Even the Technocrats, who dismiss all Void-lore as superstition, know better than to stand in his path.
Sculpted by Taiga Miniatures and produced in high-detail resin, this model stands approximately 32mm to eye level and is supplied in six parts: body, head, staff arm, dagger hand, base scenic, and oval base. The clean part breakdown makes assembly straightforward, with clear contact points that allow for minor pose adjustment before gluing. The sculpt rewards careful painting, with deep recesses in the wrapped cloth, crisp skull motifs on the sash, and a beautifully detailed horned helmet offering strong contrast across materials.
Compatible with 28 to 32mm scale skirmish and roleplaying games, this model works equally well as a named antagonist, a wandering NPC, or a player character representing a Warlock or cult leader. A fitting centrepiece for any force emerging from the cursed regions of Arkanar or the lawless streets of Abraxas.
Painting Guide: Shaman-PriestThe Shaman-Priest rewards a palette built around decay and ritual. Dirty linen wrappings, tarnished bone, aged leather, and a single sickly accent colour for Void energy will sell the character immediately on the tabletop. This guide walks you through a grim and efficient approach suited to this WarpLand miniature.
1. Prime
- Prime with a black or dark grey spray to anchor shadows in the deep recesses of the wrappings and cloth folds.
- Zenithal highlight with a light grey from above to pre-shade volume before you pick up a brush.
2. Cloth and Wrappings Base
- Base the robes and wrappings with a mid-brown or aged linen tone. A desaturated khaki reads as sun-bleached cloth without looking clean.
- Apply a dark brown wash across all cloth areas, letting it pool in the folds. Wipe excess from raised surfaces while still wet for a worn, dirty look.
3. Bone, Skull Details, and Staff
- Paint all bone elements, including skull ornaments, fetishes, and the hooked ritual staff, with a warm off-white base. Layer up to a near-white on the highest points.
- Shade with a thin sepia wash, leaving the deepest crevices slightly darker for a yellowed, aged finish.
4. Weapons and Metal
- Base the long knife blade with a dark iron tone. Drybrush lightly with a brighter steel to catch the edges, keeping the metal looking worn and pitted rather than pristine.
- Add a thin rust wash to the lower portions of the blade and the metal fittings on the staff to suggest age and neglect.
5. Skin and Mask
- Paint any exposed skin with a desaturated mid-tone, shading deep into the musculature. This model rewards strong contrast between light and shadow on the torso.
- The horned mask can be treated as tarnished bronze or blackened iron. A patina of verdigris green on the recesses of a bronze mask adds a striking ritual quality that suits this WarpLand miniature perfectly.
6. Bases
- The scenic base element features rubble and a defeated creature underfoot. Paint stonework in cool grey tones to contrast with the warm browns of the figure above.
- Finish with a light drybrush of pale dust across the base rim and ground, tying the model to an arid wasteland setting such as the ruins of Arkanar or the broken roads outside Lagash.
